Is the Channel Really That Wide?

There's a new entry in the current affairs lexicon: 'Brexit'! This portmanteau word, combining 'British' and 'exit', specifically refers to the prospect of the United Kingdom exiting the European Union (EU), an idea which would have seemed unthinkable just a year or two ago. However, as the sense of discomfort about the perceived level of European involvement in British lawmaking has increased, the prospect no longer seems so remote.
