For years the U.S. has benefited from a weak dollar while Treasury officials espoused a strong dollar policy. Now it faces the reality of a stronger dollar, which is impacting exports and multinational earnings in what continues to be a global currency war and race to the bottom. This has propelled the dollar and the forex market from the background to front page news. In the U.S., the stock market is the main focus and anything that impacts it negatively becomes headline news.
