A Change In Fortunes? Outlook- August 17, 2014

Economic U-Turn
The latest week saw disappointing GDP data from Germany, the Eurozone and Japan. Global data recently has been disappointing. and this disappointment generally has been reflected in falling bond yields. We feel this might have been a watershed period for the markets and policy makers. The Bank of England also surprised the markets when it sent a signal that an expected 4Q14 hike in interest rates would not likely happen before 1Q15. Furthermore, U.S. data have been inconsistent recently. All will be closely following comments on Friday by Fed Chair Yellen from Jackson Hole on the economy. We are expecting no changes in the planned October end to the Asset Purchase Program, but the central bank is still unlikely t
