Fed Policy Path is Set
It hard to believe that we are back to focusing on another Fed meeting this week. There is always the possibility of a surprise but it will take time before the Fed can even consider raising short term interest rates and we see no reason why the central bank should not be able to meet its scheduled October end to its asset purchase program. The general focus of the market continues to be on mid-July 2015 for the first rate hike. July 2015 Fed Funds futures place 100% odds on a 25bp rate hike by July and 48% odds on an additional +25bp increase by that time.
