Forex Manipulation is Now a Crime

U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne in his Mansion House speech yesterday pledged to formalize actions to crack down on the manipulation of the foreign exchange (forex) markets a criminal offense. His proposed action appears mainly to be directed at the largely unregulated inter-bank market where big players can impact what institutional participants pay for interaction. While we don’t see much in the way of direct impact on retail traders, there are implications for trading in general and that affects us all.
