Yellen Testimony Sees no Surprises

Initial reactions to the first round of Congressional testimony by Fed Chair Yellen have been largely very positive. There's no doubt that she is in a honeymoon period, but she appeared to be extremely well prepared and able to handle a wide range of questions in a manner that reassured the financial markets.

In terms of experience, she is probably the best prepared Fed Chair ever. As for substance, Yellen signaled that the current Fed schedule for the "tapering" of would be maintained, barring unexpected developments in the economy, but that short-term policy would remain accomodative well into the future.
